Met Police crackdown as fine of over £3,000 can be handed out to coronavirus rule breakers

The Met Police is cracking down on the latest coronavirus rules, as changes to social gatherings come into force today (Monday, September 14).

Changes to the regulations that reduce the numbers who can meet socially from 30 to six have been introduced to help control the spread of the virus – a rule that if broken, could see some offenders handed with a £3,200 fine.

The force has announced that officers will be deployed in every borough to help keep people safe. They will patrol public spaces and will also respond swiftly to incidents where groups gather in large numbers.
