Rage 2, the sequel to the post-apocalyptic shooter Rage, has been released to consoles and PC with a worldwide release. The sequel closely follows the tone and themes of the first game, with emphasis on shooting and driving mechanics.
While critics praised the game for its up-to-date graphics and colourful world, they criticized the lack of innovation and subpar side quests.
The game was also likened to similar games like Mad Max by players, who argued that Mad Max did a lot of thing right compared to Rage 2, especially driving and the combat mechanics.
Some also criticized the trend in AAA games to focus on post-apocalyptic settings, almost becoming the favourite genre of developers, with Sony’s Days Gone also releasing around the same time, with similar themes.
