According to experts, organized crime has been rising to worrying levels in recent years. Officials warn that if necessary precautions are not taken, the government may lose the war against organised crime.
According to the Guardian, NCA’s director general Lynne Owens warned that the possible threat from organized crime syndicates is at a very high level. “It is chronic and corrosive. The message needs to be heard by everyone. People should understand that serious and organised crime kills more of our citizens every year than terrorism, war and natural disasters combined’, Owens said.
“Against a backdrop of globalisation, extremism and technological advances, serious and organised crime is changing fast, and law enforcement needs significant new investment to help combat it,” Owens added.
