Tolkien, a biographical account of the famous writer of the Lord of the Rings, divided fans of the books, for its creative liberty and its questionable segments that places Lord of the Rings figures into the writer’s early imagination.
While the film was received favourably by critics as a biopic, some scenes with dragons and lone riders made fans question the film. One particular scene, where an imagined dragon appears in the middle of WWI, felt pigeonholed for some hardcore fans.
Some even questioned the film’s existence, as they were not interested in the author’s personal life, especially how it was related in the film in an overly melodramatic way.
All in all, Tolkien’s semi-biographical account is sure to be loved and criticised for years to come, with more of the books’ fans watching the film.
