Video games can help tackle mental health issues

According to Johnny Chiodini, video games can also have positive effects, and that we should not ignore the good side of spending time in virtual worlds.

Chiodini, who is a video game producer, talked on TED about the complex ways a video game can be a cause for good or bad, and that it is not as simplistic as the media makes it out to be. Chiodini said, in a talk he gave to Newsbeat, for pretty much my whole life I’ve used video games as a support tool to help me deal with difficult times.’

If anxiety or depression overwhelms him, he often dives into a virtual world to “stop my internal monologue from having such a prominent place in my brain”.
