Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a new IP from From Software, will feature a tutorial to get players through the basics of combat. This is a novelty, at least if we consider that the Dark Souls games From is known for did not have any type of tutorial, throwing the player into the fray right from the very start.
This news did not sit very well with committed fans and players of previous From Software games, particularly the Dark Souls series, so the producer had to explain.
From Software President Miyazaki held that the ‘player will die a lot’, despite the existence of a tutorial. This doesn’t come as a surprise to series veterans of Dark Souls, which also had a very unrelentingly difficult learning curve, and bosses like nightmares, as in Bloodborne. The tutorial, we are assured, will make it clearer from the beginning the more obscure aspects of the controls and the gameplay, while the game retains its difficulty.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will come out for PS4, PC and Xbox One in the first months of 2019.
